The February 2026 PS5 State of Play was absolutely the first kind.
I sat on my couch, controller in hand, fully expecting a few decent trailers and maybe one surprise. Forty minutes in, my pizza had gone cold. I didn’t care. The State of Play PS5 showcase just kept throwing punches.
Sony finally did what fans have been begging for. They showed games. Real games. With release dates. Some even dropped the same night.
It wasn’t one of those events where everything is “coming soon” with no calendar in sight. The PlayStation 5 State of Play games lineup stretched from February all the way through the end of 2026: remakes, sequels, brand-new IPs, and a certain bald guy with blades chained to his arms.
Let’s break down everything that matters. No fluff. No corporate speak. Just the games.

Kena Returns With Scars of Kosmora
Remember Kena: Bridge of Spirits? That gorgeous indie that punched way above its weight class in 2021?
She’s back.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora takes our spirit guide to a mysterious island with a darker tone. The trailer showed an older, wiser Kena with a new staff and an evolved fox companion that doubles as a mount. The combat looks deeper. The world looks bigger. The Rot are still adorable little troublemakers.
Ember Lab isn’t messing around. It is a full sequel, launching later in 2026 on PS5 and PC.
Ghost of Yotei Legends Brings Friends Into the Fight
Ghost of Yotei hasn’t even been out that long, and Sucker Punch is already expanding it.
Ghost of Yotei Legends drops March 10 as a free update. It’s a four-player cooperative mode where you and your squad battle demonic versions of the Yotei Six villains. Four distinct classes. Three mission types. A raid is coming later.
The original Ghost of Tsushima’s Legends mode was secretly one of the best co-op experiences on PS5. It feels like more of that. Just samurai. Demons. Friends. Good times.
James Bond Gets an Origin Story
IO Interactive, the geniuses behind Hitman, showed off 007 First Light.
It isn’t another movie tie-in. It’s an original story about Bond before he becomes Bond. The trailer showed Iceland locations, MI6 taking notice of a promising recruit, and a rogue 009 causing problems.
May 27 is the date. Mark it.
The John Wick Game Is Real
Saber Interactive stood up and said, “We’re making a John Wick game. Keanu is involved. It’s happening.”
The room lost it.
It’s a triple-A third-person action title with proper “gun-fu” combat. Keanu Reeves provides both voice and likeness. The developers worked with Chad Stahelski and Lionsgate to get it right.
No release date yet. But honestly? Just knowing it exists is enough for now.
Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol. 2 Finally Has a Date
Konami dragged its feet on this for years. At the February 2026 PS5 event games showcase, they finally locked it down.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 arrives August 27 . The lineup includes:
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
- Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (bonus title)
MGS4 on modern consoles. Peace Walker is not stuck on PSP. It is how you treat a legacy franchise.
Castlevania Returns With Belmont’s Curse
Konami also brought out the whips.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is a new 2D action-exploration title. Development duties are split between Konami, Evil Empire, and Motion Twin. Evil Empire knows its way around 2D action games. Motion Twin made Dead Cells. This combo has serious potential.
New weapons. New art style. Same gothic vibes. Coming in 2026.
Silent Hill Townfall Finally Shows Gameplay
Remember when Silent Hill Townfall got announced years ago and then vanished?
It’s back. And it’s first-person now.
The gameplay trailer revealed a new town, a new protagonist, and puzzles that actually look creepy. Developer Screen Burn emphasized stealth over combat. Sometimes running is smarter than fighting.
Coming to PS5 and PC in 2026.
Pragmata Has a Demo Available Right Now
Capcom’s mysterious sci-fi adventure finally emerged from development hell.
Pragmata launches April 24 . But more importantly, a playable demo dropped during the State of Play live stream.
I downloaded it immediately. The derelict city vibes are strong. The Android companion is intriguing. The combat feels weighty.
Try it yourself.
Death Stranding 2 Hits PC
PC players, rejoice. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach arrives March 19 on Steam and Epic Games. The port includes unlocked frame rates, ultra-wide monitor support, and DualSense features.
Current PS5 owners aren’t left out. The same day update brings new features to console players, too.
The Indie Highlights Stealing the Show
Sometimes the smaller games hit hardest. The PS5 game trailers section had several standouts.
Darwin’s Paradox stars an octopus. A stealth octopus. The demo drops February 13 and is “directly inspired by Metal Gear Solid”—tactical octopus action. I’m not kidding.
Mina the Hollower from the Shovel Knight studio got a spring release window and a demo. Over 25 bosses, 60 trinkets, weapon upgrades, fishing minigames, and “tons of puns”.
Beast of Reincarnation launches August 4. One girl, one dog, post-apocalyptic Japan, and combat that switches between real-time sword fighting and turn-based commands.
Crimson Moon brings co-op action in a gothic world full of angels and demons. Fall 2026.

Why This State of Play Felt Different
Here’s the thing about PlayStation 5’s new games and 2026 events.
Usually, they tease. They hint. They show concept art and call it a “gameplay reveal.”
This one didn’t.
Dates stuck. Demos dropped immediately. A full game launched during the broadcast. That’s confidence. That’s respecting players’ time.
The PS5 games roadmap for 2026 is now crystal clear. March alone has four major releases. Summer is packed. Fall looks stacked.
Sony also balanced first-party heavy hitters with third-party gems. Kena sits next to John Wick. Castlevania shares space with Darwin the octopus. There’s room for everything.
The Random Observation Section
Can we talk about the PS5 event highlights for a second?
Someone at Sony finally realized that showing games people can actually play soon generates more hype than CGI trailers for 2028.
Also, the octopus game winning the internet was not on my bingo card. But here we are.
The State of Play game lineup proved something else. Remakes aren’t going away. But when done right—God of War trilogy, Metal Gear Solid, Legacy of Kain—they feel essential, not lazy.
